A thirty-something manchild, desperate to get his recently-dumped best friend laid, takes him to a party where his friend falls for a woman who only wants sex, whilst he falls in love for the first time… with his friend’s ex-fiance.

Definitely something in this idea. However, surely this guy has met his best friend’s fianc? before? The way this is worded makes it sound like this guy falls in love with his best friend’s ex-fiance at the party. Is that right?
I’m not sure including the bit about his friend falls for a woman who only wants sex is necessary. That seems like the B-story to me.
When he falls in love for the first time with his best friend’s ex, a thirty-something man-child must find a new girlfriend for his recently dumped amigo before he can follow his heart.?
Hi Mike,
I’m going to plot this out today…
You might be right about the B-plot thing – we’ll see. I want to show how the friends are going in opposite directions, the straight man/recently dumped/wants-commitment and marriage falls for a woman who only wants sex.
Meanwhile, the manchild/mr.uncommitable falls for someone who does want commitment… and who happens to be the ex. They have met before. She was looking for “lightning” or “that spark” – which is why she dumped our straight man. She finds “lightning” with the manchild.
So yeah – we’ve got four people. Plenty of conflict. I might heighten this by making the two women best friends. We’ll see. That might be too much. But it will certainly build to an interesting boiling point.
It was going to be about sex, love, relationships, friendships and growing up. That bromance will still be at the forefront of things.
