Is this the father’s story or the son’s story? ?The father’s story is strong – he has a difficult decision to make, and that can drive the action. ?The son’s story is a little unclear to me – is he just naive and fell in with the wrong crowd, or is he obsessed with something that lead him to go down this path?

Sorry to start so negative. “Be specific”, double edged sword, etc tells me nothing. ?I have no idea until the end of what the story is, then it is only a hint.

what big thing must Dad have to do? ?What must he do? If it is just decide who to protect, the story will be short. ?If it is just that, what does he have to go through to make that decision?

This is my take, it is probably not your story.

“A cop must find a way to bring down corrupt officials while protecting his son involved in their actions” or

“A cop discovers that an investigation into corrupt officials will involve his son. ?He must become as corrupt as them ?to protect his son”

Currently I’m thinking the son might be involved in street racing or something kinda morally arguable. It’s unclear why a cop would really feel divided about protecting his son or enforcing the law. Maybe if his son killed someone hurt someone.
