      Okay just a little messy.

      Burn down the town and burn the girlfriend
      Burn down the town assisted by his girlfriend

      And whose girlfriend she is?

      Plus calling him a psycho is a bit questionable. If he was mad he wouldn?t be released he?d be in care.

      Is he actually going to burn down an entire town?

      So here is my take:

      A cop has to stop a pyromaniac ex-con and his equally mad girlfriend from taking revenge on his town for the years he was in prison.

      I feel like you could have fun with this. What If a copy cat starts just at the point the guy is released. At first the cop, obsessed won’t believe him, but then they reluctantly work together and perhaps develop an understanding
