I was wondering if I should add in the logline that this is set in a future where employee’s thoughts are owned by the corporation they work for, so when you leave work you don’t take the information with you that is stored on an artificial hippocampus that you log into when you get to work.
Cool idea – don’t think the extra detail is necessary in the logline, but its definitely a strong element within the world of the film. Could maybe use a timeclock? E.g. memories can only be restored if retrieved in a particular amount of time? Also, what are the challenges that get in the way?
If the memories have been erased — how does he know, how can he know that he’s missing them?
Cool concept that sounds like a mix of?PayCheck,?Total Recall and?Johnny Mnemonic.
Regarding the point raised by dpg on how would he know that his memory has been erased, it would more emotional if he were to received a message telling him that his father has finally died, but he can’t remember him. He goes to the funeral, everybody recognise him, but he does not even recognise his sister nor his own mother. They have moment of his life recorded, but all he got is blank. He knows something is wrong. Somebody has erased his memory, but who and why? that could be your emotional inciting incident.
In?PayCheck, Ben Afleck’s character voluntary sign away his memory. When he falls in love with Uma Thurman, he changes and can no longer sit by when his boss steal the future.
You need more than wanting to retrieve his memory, something external or somebody else must be at risk to justify him getting into battle against his own boss.

Good idea for the inciting incident.
When the bad guy wipes his memory — that’s backstory.? It isn’t properly an inciting incident because it doesn’t incite the protagonist to action,? The inciting incident is whatever happens that makes him realize he has? no memory of his parents.
I see one problem with premise, however.? The protagonist lives in a society, a world where everyone has families, family connections, family,, family connections — it’s the homo sapien way.? How credible is it that he would not immediately wonder why he is the only one with no memories of every having a family. Wouldn’t it be better if the bad guy swaps out authentic memories with false ones — implants bogus memories?? (Like Rachel in “Blade Runner”)
And then, he discovers intel about his real family….
