And I?d change ?a? to ?the? to make the curse more specific (The curse, versus any old generic curse). Then another bit of rearranging to make it more active. So then using Dkpough’s as a jump point:

A lot of “he” and “his” for a one-liner. Is infected the word you really want? That implies, to me at least, something medical whereas the rest of this seems to read as more metaphysical.
