Recovery from what? Being neglectful? or the guilt of allowing her husband’s overdose?
What does this journey of recovery look like on screen? Is it an emotional journey? Or a physical one (road trip?)? Film is a visual medium so it’s good to use a visual goal to represent emotional goals.
Thanks for your suggestions
I think the idea is solid but the opening line needs to be changed because people are responsible for their own sobriety, so I don’t understand how she could ‘allow’ her husband to overdose.
“When her husband’s overdose wakes her up, an addicted mother enters rehab determined that her children won’t lose their mom as well”
If she has custody over her children already, she is trying to keep the status quo as is. However, if she were to have lost custody over them, she would need to fight to get them back.
What if the inciting event is her children being taken away, and her goal is getting them back?
For example: After an addict loses her children to the state, she must kick the habit to get them back.
I would suggest adding urgency or a timeframe for losing her children.? Like a court date or an order from the court.
