    First Blood (1982)

I phrased the logline to spotlight the topical issue around the time of the movie’s release, how Vietnam vets didn’t get the respect and appreciation ?they felt they deserved for fighting a foolish war for a lost cause. ?Particularly since it was not a war of their own choosing — they were drafted, military service being compulsory at the time.

That’s the emotional core the movie tapped into, that created the Rambo film franchise.

(I am curious to see how — if — they can work out Rey’s ?character arc in the reboot of the Star Wars franchise so that it more substantial than a ?guy’s “Hero’s Journey” in drag. ?Given the fact that all the writers in “The Force Awakens” were guys, ?I’m not optimistic.)

Well seeing as it has been posted, here goes…

After a psychotic Egyptian god kills his father and takes his eyes, the heir to the kingdom must team up with a mortal to get his eyes back and defeat the tyrant.

I think the biggest problem with the concept is that there are two heroes – Horus and the mortal, and essentially one could write a logline for either of them. This means that the audience didn’t empathise with a particular?character and the experience was rather superficial.

Then again there were many other problems, is there a word limit for posts on this site?
