great emphasis on the backstory in the logline. interesting indeed, our protagonist is not just any guy or a husband, he is a man with some serious past, and he is a marine. fleeing the scene, then joined the forces to train himself, it is interesting to see what motivated him to join the marine force. Now the past has comeback to haunt him, it would be crazy if you can increase the stakes by adding time he has to save them in the logline.

Hey CG! Right now, your logline reads like this:

A disgraced royal officer arrives in Britain seeking redemption, but becomes ensnared in a coup between a vanished Prime Minister and a secretive cabal, forcing him to confront his past and survive the instability.

Kind of like London Has Fallen, Taken, John Wick, The Equalizer, etc.

That said, movies like this are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. It’s going to be a difficult sell in an extremely challenging economy.

Try to take this story in a new direction. Experiment with the setting, the characters, the backstory, the motivations, the theme, etc.

Do a plot chart where take a piece of scrap paper or a Word Doc and just right the first thing that comes to mind. Don’t overthink it. Like maybe for the character you right the word “dog” and now try to tell the story through the eyes a member of the canine unit or something.

Obviously, this is just an example, but basically try to find two or more seemingly unrelated things and see how they could work with this plot. Try to find a unique selling point that separates this from the rest of the pack.

I hope this is helpful and hopefully not too discouraging! Just trying to be realistic. 🙂
