A civilian operative writes an AI app that guarantees facial recognition. The app also turns the phone in your pocket into a targeting sensor. Is he willing to kill to protect us all from social media?

UPDATE: Yes, I understand it might be too long. The new version attempts to use the suggestions. Thanks!

Surviving the repeated attempts on their lives, Aydin, and his sidekick Phil, uncover who, and why, someone wants Aydin dead. Espionage, counterespionage, the international opium trade, high-tech forensics, and a family history of deceit are the nitty-gritties in Aydin’s search for the threat.

Conceived initially as Noir Fiction, current events morphed the Aydin Trammel short stories into a cautionary tale on the omnipresent use of Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and the myriad of information tracking social media platforms.

I think I am missing something, There is a GPS in your phone that could assassin can use to target you. It seems like this new AI your protagonist wrote is already available.

Thank you. I tweaked the logline for clarity.

The app is interesting, but the AI connection is missing.
If I were away, I’m sure a professional assassin could hack my family’s “Find My Phone”. Now, if a baddie could use this app to explode my phone – it’d be a lot cooler 😉

      Take care.

Thanks! Unless the phone is next to you head, exploding is not likely to be lethal. What if the AI app on your phone could triangulate your position down to half a meter?

I think I know where you’re going with this, GPS can get you to the location e.g. mall, but can’t pinpoint a person in the crowd; you’ll find me at the food court 😉
What if the app can exploit military-grade satellites to pinpoint? What we’re discussing is the Method part of the logline which is the least and last – meaning, you have bigger fish to fry bud.
          Let’s break yours down:
          PROTAG: Civilian Operative.
GOAL? Q: WHY was the app created? Can it be downloaded from Social Media? Does the Operative want to kill his Frankenstein creation? Can he patch his app to kill the exploit?
ANT/OBSTACLE? What’s in the way of this operative completing his goal? FYI: If his app is on Social Media – baddies already have hands-on.
STAKES: Nefarious groups make use of the operative’s app for assassinations including his own.
METHOD: App exploits military-grade satellites to pinpoint assassinations.
TIP: Add “Enemy of the State” to your research (concept).
          Let me know.

Why write an app with an incredibly specific purpose for assassinations if you’re not willing to kill?

      We are lost in Act1.

A man searches for the person trying to kill him.

That is what we have in story. Everything else is decoration. What is the story about?
