After her younger sister commits suicide, a young college student becomes convinced that one of her classmates is possesed by her soul, and has to help her get to the right afterlife.

Although I usually don’t like the suicide-inciting incident, this is an interesting premise.

However, it is not clear what sort of movie we are to expect. “to help her get to the right afterlife” doesn’t make much sense to me. What does this look like? What sort of things will she need to do to achieve this? And what are the obstacles?

A logline is primarily about what to expect in Act Two, because this make up most of the movie. If you can’t promise us a clear and satisfying journey/objective, I’m afraid the logline doesn’t work (yet).

The beginning of this logline tells a story, but it doesn’t give us enough information.

There aren’t any conflicts to make this story intriguing to me as an audience member. We don’t know who the antagonist in the story is. Moreover, we must assume that it’s going to be easy to help her sister – nothing tells us otherwise. What stands in her way? Is the process of discovering the truth a major part of the story or is it getting her to the afterlife? What is at stake if she doesn’t succeed? If she’s wrong? What is our genre?

It’s a lot of information to impart in about 30 words, but that’s a logline.
