This tells us so much more plus gives us a hook, stakes, and an internal fight for the main character. Having to choose between family and the job to which he loves will cause him to really struggle with his inner voice telling him what to do. Plus if he was good friends with his commanding officer it raises even more stakes and even more struggles. It does feel like a different movie now and takes away the ’16 Blocks’ image.

This has got me intrigued into the film now as want to know how much depth it will go into. Not that you need to put all that in a log line but it has got me wanting to know. Is the brother known to the police? Why was he attacked by the cop? Does the detective have a better relationship with his commanding officer than his brother? These are questions I want answers to and the log line has me asking them. If there is a way of hinting at some of them in there get them in but at the end of the day if the log line doesn’t ask questions it isn’t doing its job.

I know I’d be in for action and suspense with the clear obstacles then a more personal attachment offered with the brotherly bond. I want to read more.

I echo Kriss’ comment … well done – solid logline. Now it’s time to bang out that script and share with others!
