Needs a clear goal, even if it seems small – the point is that it acts as a focus, doesn’t need to be earth shattering.
Isn’t the? death of his wife the inciting incident?? The friend moving in seems to be an consequential complication.
BTW, is the friend male or female?
The only thing I’m sceptic about is his Objective Goal
Which particular achievement (event per say..) will establish his victory. Internally–to grow up into a better parent and stop being a control freak, I get that–but what becomes his objective-visual-goal after his wife’s death. It promises a great character arc, only….which ‘wrinkle’ makes it different from Kramer Vs Kramer 1979 (and you bet your a** it will be compared)
Good Luck mikepedley85!!
