      Complex,

What’s gonna happen if they do buy out their companies? People usually like that cause they get rich. Will he buy them out and shut em down?

      Otherwise, sounds interesting.

He’s going to oust and shut them down because their films draw the bigger crowds. It’s millennials vs. baby boomers. The old hate how “easy” the young men have taken over the business. I want it to have that compelling edge. Help me. Thank you.

      >>my concern is that the average audience member may not give a shit about it.

      Yep.

Also, the industry is in the midst of a revolution thanks to technology. VOD, etc. is undermining old economic and movie making paradigms and overthrowing old media empires. That?s the real drama, the real story ? not a generational feud between hyper-inflated egos (although that is a factor.)

The premise of the logline seems so yesterday.

Also, since studios and production companies are bought and sold all the time — that’s business as usual in show biz — what is so special about this deal that it MUST this ?be stopped? ?What are the stakes? ?Other than to satisfy ?his ego and satiate his greed, why is the protagonist so keen on thwarting the deal?

And how does being “estranged” work into the plot? ?Estranged in what sense?

Estranged from who? (or whom, I don’t know) ?This maybe lacks some stakes. ?Why would the average person care if some movie company gets bought? ?Is there romance involved? ?Betrayal? ?I would be more likely to root for them if they were maybe down on their luck, but it says they’re successful. ?So I find myself not really caring. ?Seems like more of a corporate transaction than anything else.

Even with a great plot and a solid script, I strongly suggest you move onto your next idea – stay away from Hollywood insider stories, unless you’re one, it will not get picked up.
