As attempt to belatedly connect with her estranged and recently deceased sister, a woman goes on an experimental vacation trip with the sister's avant-garde theater troupe, in which a real-time play unfolds as the itinerary progresses. When she witnesses a murder, then narrowly escapes being a murder victim herself, her trip becomes a life-and-death struggle to determine what's part of the script and what is real.

      Here’s a stab at it:
When a woman goes on the road with her deceased sister?s experimental theater troupe, she must decide what’s real and what’s fiction or she may be written out” of the play for good.

Nice, thanks PeterMack – I like the brevity. I’ll work with that and repost.
