Harriet Quimby, America's first licensed female pilot in 1911, said all she wanted was "to be first." She wasn't afraid to die trying.

      A bio-drama of the aviator, I presume.

Unfortunately, this story may be caught in the shadow of bio-drama of Amelia Earhart (2009). Which crashed at the box office. It’s unfair, but Hollyweirdos will be thinking about and comparing this concept to that movie when they read the logline.

The question in their minds will be: what is there so special about Harriet Quimby’s life that makes it better potential box-office bait than Amelia Earhart’s?

Harriet, in my vision, should go to HBO…a tv series. If you could read this script, you will cry…I guarantee it. I spent 15 years researching her. Yes, her life is more fascinating than Amelia’s. I know all about Amelia, too. The time period, right after the Wright’s invention…1905 to 1915, holds unbelievable pilot stories…look up Cal Rogers, John Moisant, Lincoln Beachey. Harriet, or any one of those pilots would make a strong and welcome story.

Okay. Do you have a central idea, theme or premise which ties the whole series together? Harriet Quimby lived a varied, albeit abbreviated, life. Aviation only occupied the last couple of years or so.

So I can envision a string of pearls, interesting incidents and episodes that end with her untimely death. But what do you conceive to be the plot?

      Hi Sterling Scripts,

I think I agree with dpg here (for a change 😉 ) — the purpose of a logline is to describe the plot — at the moment you’ve given us a broad concept. The logline should be very specific as to what actually occurs in your story. If I want to buy your script I have to know what I’m getting in for — mainly, how much will this baby cost, and how much will audiences potentially like it. At the moment I can’t even make assumptions on either of those things. Potentially interesting subject matter, but not as interesting as a succinct compelling STORY.

      Best of Luck.

changed to: 1911. Being the first licensed female pilot and the first female to fly the English Channel wasn’t enough for Harriet. One more record flight…then she’d quit.
