The plot seems to be a variant of the ancient myth of Pygmalion. (A good modern example is the musical? “My Fair Lady” inspired by the play “Pygmalion” by George Bernard Shaw).
The standard way it plays out is through ironic reversal whereby the “creator” falls in love with his “creation”.? But he is too successful in molding her in the image of his idea of an ideal woman.? He loses control of and is bested by his “creation”.
“…finds himself attracted to his new creation but has taught her a little too well.”? seems generic and vague.? Exactly how has he taught her all too well?? I seems to me the story needs a? unique angle, a specific fresh take and? a specific new and interesting way she has bested him.
I agree with above reviewer, this idea has potential. ?I disagree with their new take however. Your initial logline has far better vibe and foundation in my opinion. ?”needy female friend” sounds old fashioned and kinda lame. ?I love clinger to player. Shows attitude and word play.
But, the premise needs to get “woke” somehow. Look at Hitch: Will Smith and Eva Mendes uses a similar premise or at least similar themes. ?How to lose a Guy in 10 Days and ?What a Woman Wants also. ?Your idea is a romcom delving into the male perspective — there has to be some kind of transformation in the lead when his Frankenstien creation ends up beating him at his own game and showing him the pitfalls of being an asshole. ?I don’t think it needs to be overly complicated to be a feature. ?Great features build on strong simple ideas. ?You just need to develop the idea further.
He falls in love with his Frankenstein and it’s a complete role reversal and… then what? ?that’s the part you still have to figure out.
Act 1 — ?Player teaches his clinger best friend his game so she stops getting her heart broken and grows some balls
Act 2 – he creates a monster who?ends up beating him at his own game, problem is, he realizes he was in love with the old her all along he was just too selfish to see it, ?showing him ?the pitfalls of being an asshole.
Act 3 – How do they find away back to one another or not? Does their love win or lose? How does he have to change to prove himself to her. ?What betrayal does he do that destroys their relationship ?somehow they can overcome that wound a realize either they belong together or they don’t…
Anyway, good look.
