      Hi Roger,

Well done. Sounds like this could be a lot of fun! Are you making?this film?

For short films, the rules are somewhat more lenient. They don’t always have 3 acts.

Also, on this site we prefer ‘development loglines’. They reveal as much as possible. When you’re sending a logline to a film festival, it may be shorter, and ‘tease’ rather than ‘reveal’.

Who is the main character? Is it the son?

I’m asking because it depends on the MC what the inciting incident is.

If the son is the main character, I would imagine he has to justify, or even defend the friend (an alien, I take it?) over dinner.

Because the reader will guess that the friend is an alien, why not mention it? It may save you a few words.

In summary, I would like to get a better feel for what sort of conflict to expect.

      Have fun loglining!

      Cheers,

      Karel
