When her pack is stolen, a spirited Corinthian girl must reclaim it from thieves and the important letter within which she promised to deliver to Rome. (Possible script title: ‘Phoebe’)

Must reclaim it or else? ?What are the stakes? ? What happens if she fails?

And in what time period is the story set?

I think the description of the inciting incident is misleading, and the wording a bit confusing. It wasn’t the pack being stolen that started the story, rather the important letter within it. Secondly, as DPG asked, what is so important about this letter?

      Lastly, what is her flaw?

      Perhaps:
After she is robbed, a scared Corinthian girl must retrieve a signed peace letter in her pack from the thieves in order to deliver it to Rome.

      Richiev:

I suggest you consider working into the logline the religious/historical import of the letter because it’s the story hook. ?What’s at stake is the fate of an epistle from an apostle named Paul, that formulates fundamental doctrines of the early Christian faith and is destined to be one of the most critical books in the New Testament. ?It’s ?what makes the story significant, what makes the script stand out from the crowd, the mob of other scripts clamoring to be read.

There’s a market (in the U.S.) for stories with a religious aspect and producers looking for them. ?How are they going to find this script if ?the hook is hidden? ?

You’ll hook a reader’s interest and sharpen the concept around a historically important document if you mention the letter and disclose it’s true nature. This could be seen as a religious film or as a historical one,?either way, there are markets for both. The events in your story have widespread ramifications that affected Western civilization as a whole.

Don’t play it down, don’t hide it mention the letter in all its glory – FRONT AND CENTER!

      e.g:
After thieves brutally rob her, a scared Corinthian girl must retrieve Paul’s epistle from her stolen pack in order to deliver it to the Roman Emporer.

      26 words.

As the kids say – BOOM!

Except the target audience of the epistle was the Christians (Jews & Gentiles) in Rome, not the Emperor. ?This points to a ?dramatic?issue.

The long term stakes and consequences of the epistle ( its central role in formulating ?doctrine for the survival of the nascent Christian religion) is something ?the movie audience might appreciate. ??But within the time framework of the film, what are the immediate stakes for the early Christians in Rome? ?What’s the upside for them if the epistle is delivered, the downside if it isn’t?

I see, in that case the question is what are the immediate stakes associated with the epistle?

“When Paul’s epistle to the Romans is stolen from her pack, a spirited Corinthian girl must steal it back if she’s keep her promise to deliver the letter to believers in Rome who are being persecuted.”

I suggest naming the villain responsible for the persecution, Rome’s greatest fiddler. So:

When the Apostle Paul?s epistle to the Romans is stolen from her travel pack, a spirited Corinthian girl must get it back to inspire Christians being persecuted by the Emperor Nero.

Agreed with DPG. Worth noting though that while the Emporer is not the antagonist, he is the stakes at hand – naming him clarifies this. However, the plot of stealing the epistle (the A plot of the story) seems to pale in comparison now to the potential plot of helping hundreds of people in Rome. Perhaps best to describe the actual challenge the girl will face in getting the epistle back, right now it’s only lightly brushed over.

      E.g:
After the Apostle Paul?s epistle is stolen from her travel pack by the republic’s most notorious robber, a spirited Corinthian girl must get it back to inspire Christians persecuted by the? Emperor Nero.

      PHOEBE

When the backpack of a Corinthian girl entrusted to deliver a letter imperative to solving the riddle of?the debilitating supernatural disease?plaguing Rome is stolen by a group of?goblins, she?must find a way to reclaim it? before they learn it’s secrets and destroy the Empire, it’s citizens, and all of humanity.
