All the publicist needs to do is destroy the launch codes. ?In fact, he wouldn’t even have to do that.

All powers would be ?transferred immediately to the Veep or the Speaker of the ?House, or the Secretary of State — down through an order of cabinet officials — per the Constitutionally clarified order of succession. ?

And the military codes that went down with Air Force would be rescinded, new ones issued by the military for the Vice-President or whoever is next in the line of succession.

The military already has a contingency plan for a worse case scenario than the one in this logline — the worst one of all. ?When POTUS gives his State of the Union address to Congress, all the powers that be in the 3 branches of government assemble in the Capitol, in the House of Representatives.

That is the ?prime opportunity to try to decapitate and paralyze the U.S. government with a terrorist attack.

But it is standard operating procedure that ?one cabinet official stays away, off site, miles away in a secret, secure location, ?to take command in case of an attack that wipes out the Capitol and everyone on site. ?( I’m not making this up. ?I used to work on Capitol Hill — this is common knowledge.)

(I am curious to see how — if — they can work out Rey’s ?character arc in the reboot of the Star Wars franchise so that it more substantial than a ?guy’s “Hero’s Journey” in drag. ?Given the fact that all the writers in “The Force Awakens” were guys, ?I’m not optimistic.)

Ah yes, "This is the End". ?This story needs a hook, a twist, that both differentiates it from that film -- and ?tops it.
