The Guardian was once a member of the assassins (I don’t have a name for them yet). The story is that theses assassins were meant to keep the world pure, but they become power hungry and tried to destroy the world and recreate the way they wanted. The tablet is the way to achieve this. The Guardian saw this and hid the tablet where it remained hidden until Sam (the archeologist) found it. So The Guardian has to protect it.

I think this sounds really interesting. I love stories like this where you have a normal guy that gets thrown into a situation. I was going to give critique, but patrockable said everything I had to say. This sounds really cool though.
