Logline It is free to use, and if you use it properly, you’ll get real value out of it, probably enough to keep you coming back. To make that work, stick to these rules.
1. Register
Registration is essential. Once you register, you’ll get an email with your login details, and you’re set to submit a logline. Because the site is free, you’ll also get the odd email from our sponsor, The Story Department (that’s me, Karel Segers). Those emails are mostly informative, and you’re never obliged to buy anything.
2. Learn how to logline
A logline isn’t just any one-sentence summary. Learn our formula first: it takes the guesswork out of a first draft, and it’s the format this whole site runs on. If you’d rather have a logline built for you, use the Logline Generator.
3. Review at least two loglines
Once you’ve posted your own, comment on at least two loglines from other writers. You don’t need authority to do this; your gut response to the story is enough. Be considerate: with over 25,000 comments already on the site, you’ll quickly get a feel for what’s useful. When you’re on the receiving end of feedback, return the favour and take it seriously; reviewers are giving you their time for free.
