What happens on the getaway to her homeland? Who is the antagonist and what is the conflict. Is the MC the mother or is it her tween son?

Crying shame to hear a Jamaican stressed!
In addition to the gaps iamlegendre mentioned, we all get stressed. Is there a stronger reason (inciting incident) for wanting to leave the life she built in the states?
Currently, all I can see is:
