Last, a teaser of some kind e.g. “… outer space, and talking cats, but things get real when one of the students reveals a love affair with their alien cat abductors”

    Take care.

Wow! Beautiful idea. Every parent can identify with that kind of guilt-ridden responsibility. When and how does she discover this..? What makes her understand the she is responsible for what goes on in alternate dimensions?

When a young grocery clerk who doesn’t give a fuck about most things, witnesses a kidnapping of a child, they have to resort to murder in order to save the young boy.

Maybe rephrase "who doesn't give a fuck about mot things" into a shorter sentence. Perhaps: When a young dispassionate clerk witnesses a kidnapping, he has to commit the ultimate crime of passion - murder - in order to save the young child.
