I get this in a “The Dead Don’t Die” dark humor kind of way and DIG IT. Added focus to the vastness of Humanity, leaning towards:
“Being done with post-apocoliptia NATO seeks the help of an ex-zombie hunter to kill the “terrorists” standing in the way of nuclear self-annihilation”

    Take care.

Character traits? Most scientists are introvert types, hard working, determined – think Dr Frankenstein.

‘finds patient is dead while sleeping’ = inciting incident
What might the main character’s relationship to the patient be?
If female patient, then maybe lover? If child, then maybe son/daughter?
Genre is promising drama, so lots of potential here for turning up the old archetypal emotions.

“suspects boss has deliberately done it” = villain
Theme might be institutional corruption. Admittedly many successful stories obscure villain’s motivation – think Dark Knight (2008) . It for example never really explains why the Joker runs around causing so much chaos in Gotham City – he’s just crazy, right! However a boss, financially responsible to a research division, would benefit from some motivational explanation. Greed, lust, envy, … choose your vice 😉

After accidentally causing the death of her boss, an over-worked, guilt-ridden barmaid must avoid suspicion, while at the same deflecting the advances of her lascivious co-worker

Well-written. I think the logline would benefit from specifying how the barmaid caused the death of her boss. Additionally, though this is a more minor point, I think the actions the protagonist take in the story could also benefit from more specificity. Does she try to pin the blame on someone else, for example?
