When a tech company?s financial software is compromised by a terrorist group, a strategist must unravel clues from an ancient work of popular Japanese fiction to prevent the global economy from collapse.

But it’s not “about” that really. The strategist discovers that she has both been written into the story, and her actions create the story. Its the slow unveil that this investigation leads wherever she looks hardest…so it’s about agency.

And how do you state that the story takes place in the future?

It’s not the only way, it’s just that a villain who modified it modified is specifically so the superhero’s known abilities wouldn’t be able to counter it. (the plague itself wasn’t meant to be a plague, and in fact plague is the wrong word but I didn’t know exactly what it was when I started.)
But yes, the thing she created is the thing that is killing the man she loves. The concept is simpler than what people seem to be taking it for, but that’s because I included ‘superhero’.

After telepathic extremists seize control of the Solar system, an elite programmer must sneak onto occupied Mars and subvert the enemy’s communications network, or say goodbye to freedom of thought forever.

There is a lot going on in this concept, which can be good but can also work against it.

This is obviously a scifi story with a twist, an inexplicable force of nature – telepathy, is being used agains super technology. ?This can be interesting and reminiscent of Minority report. However I think the additional complexity introduced by the setting i.e the whole solar system, and the fact that all humanity’s freedom of thought is at stake may be a bit much if not confusing. Lastly what exactly does “?say good-by to freedom of thought?” actually mean? Will the telepaths control all brains in the solar system or will their be a device that does this? Or is there an “evil corporation” behind it all?

If the main character is the programmer than perhaps best to describe the events from his or her point of view, and simplify them to focus on their actions alone. Why must this particular character save everyone? What is the personal stakes? What motivates him directly to take action?
