Can’t plus size women be sexy too? I feel like the wording of this logline suggests that the plus size woman is at a disadvantage because of her physique. This is problematic in the post #MeToo era.

Surely, the decision is out of her hands? It’s down to the guy. You can’t force someone to fall in love with you, so whether he’s the man of her dreams or not is somewhat irrelevant. Doesn’t sound like her “friend” is much of a friend either.

Logline-wise, it has most of the required elements but it needs some visual specificity. What, specifically, is she doing to compete for this guy? If this is a feature, you’ve got 90+ mins to fill, so the reader needs to understand what’s going to be happening on screen.

Hope this helps in some way.

To play the Devils Advocate… I think the purpose of the story is to show that a Plus-sized woman can be sexy too.

Totally agree, but I feel like the wording is a bit off. If you wanted to highlight specifically body shape, her friend should potentially be characterised as “skinny” or “average”. The antagonist is usually at odds with the protagonist so this would make more sense.

I feel like all of this is somewhat redundant though, when the decision is neither the protagonist’s or her rival’s. I’m pretty sure his decision wouldn’t solely be based on appearances alone. If he doesn’t want to be with either of them, there’s no story.

A plus size woman competes with her svelte, gold-digger friend for the man of her dreams.

Agree with Mike Pedley that it’s a problematical premise given that sexual attraction is a politically incorrect, rather hard-wired aspect of human behavior.
