One thing that might need clarifying is, what are the stakes? What happens if he fails as a father/providing for his daughter? Will he lose her to the wife?

Reality check: In divorce cases, a primary consideration in the disposition of assets and income is adequate provision for the support of the children. It is not realistic that the wife would get all the assets, leaving the husband utterly bereft of money to provide for his daughter.

I was also going to ask why he gets custody – the fact that the wife wins in court suggests the husband has done something wrong – hence wouldn’t get sole custody. If the wife was a drug addict or something it might happen. What if he lost all his money on the stock market making his wife walk out on him – leaving him to be the sole parent.
