      You have an interesting setup here, just missing a bit. Now, one can assume where this story is going, but better to adjust this.

      After suffering a head injury, a sports anchor must recall and settle his degenerative gambling debts before ______ happens.

      Thanks for that, it has sparked off more rewriting and the strengthening of weak spots in the plot. Which to be honest I was aware of but was struggling with replacement ideas for.
