Based on a true story playing out right now involving a friend of mine.

Richiev has a point. That missing ‘one extra thing’ is due to this RL story being in ACT II, the outcome and fallout, if they take the money or not, is yet happened.
A young woman successfully flees from her stalker ex-boyfriend but, after he kills himself and leaves her his sizable estate, she must decide whether to seek shelter and risk his familie’s wrath , or be(come) homeles for the third time.
So if you decide to seek shelter in this mega house, make sure you lock ‘all’ the door, because after they lose the legal battle, they will illegally come for you full-force.
I have to admit I am having trouble coming up with a logline for this. In spite of being based on a true story, the lead still needs a goal, and I am not sure what that is, so it is difficult to try a logline for this.

“When her stalker ex-boyfriend commits suicide, an abused survivor reluctantly goes to the will reading in spite of having to face her ex’s vindictive family.”

However, the logline still needs that ‘one extra thing’.
Thanks for the feedback Richiev! I’m thinking that she rightfully feels that she’s entitled to the money because of the pain and suffering he caused her but then is consumed by guilt after seeing his surviving children fall into poverty as a result. You would have a specific incident that embodies this and for which the protagonist feels residual guilt (the teenage child tries to steal a car and crashes it, killing an innocent bystander, etc). The ‘twist’ then becomes that the protagonist realises that her deceased ex did not leave her the money out of some misguided attempt at forgiveness but rather as an act of vengeance, where he knew that leaving her the money would push her into making a decision that she ultimately regretted and that would torment her, thus exacting his perceived revenge upon her. Maybe this is along the lines of the ‘extra thing’?
Yeah, I would say that would qualify as the one other thing. Very good
(The ex didn’t leave the money out of a sense of restitution for his wrongs but out of vindictiveness, like a trap)
I like it.
Cheers appreciate it!
