What’s new or different about it? Not asking sarcastically. Is it more character-driven than the average horror? What?
As stories are told within a finite amount of time, you need to describe the start and end point of the plot.
Define their goal with a specific objective – survival is an on going activity that can last from a few hours to a few days. What one specific achievement says, beyond a doubt, that they’ve succeeded in surviving?
Make ‘an atheist family’ sign up a blood contract with a conceited Halloween cult—in an attempt to annoy them by stealing their magic lamp (which was meant to be buried by the sunrise)—accidentally releasing evil spirits in their pool party, and now MUST contact the cult HQ for a possible solution….
I think this is a workable logline
However, a few questions:
Is this simply a tale of a family that must survive until dawn or is there another goal, like stopping the cult?
Also, the cult released evil spirits into the home but also wants to sacrifice the family. Is this the same thing only worded differently. Or is the release of the spirits one thing and the sacrifice a different event?
What is the purpose of the sacrifice, it may not be needed in the logline but if it is really interesting it might even be the hook.
Overall I think the logline works, but you might try to play around with it just to see if you can improve it.
