“When he falls for the sister of the man he’s going to kill an ex-con must…” (Then tell us what he must do)
I started it like this because the main conflict starts when he falls for the sister, Up until that point the ex-con probably has no qualms about killing the (Man who possibly molested him or someone he loves) Molester.
But after falling for the sister, now if he kills the molester she might get angry and possibly leave him. Conflict.
I agree this makes for a pretty solid logline.? I think the “child molester” part is actually a strong part of the hook.? Having to choose whether or not to back off from a child molester… this must be a pretty powerful crush.? Also, I’m very interested to learn what drove this man to sign up for this vigilante quest.? Was one of his children involved?? I’d guess he just kept hearing about one kid after another, and he promised himself if there’s one good thing he’s going to do for this world, it’s to end that man.? ?Also would love to know if he falls in love with the woman first, then finds out about her relationship later, or, is everything on the table to begin with, and then the ex-con gets to know the sister.? I’d assume the former, because I’d imagine the ex-con is going to draw his own conclusions about her fast if he knows about her relationship with the molester up front.
Thanks guys. I’ve started working on an outline for this one…
Also, new logline:
An ex-con, out to kill a reformed paedophile, falls for the man’s protective sister.
Richiev:
I’m thinking the ex-con was molested as a child and having this reformed paedophile next door conjures up some old demons.
More so, it’s interesting because both the ex-con (who as a result of his own molestation, had a lot of anger issues and thus ruined his life, going in and out of prison, etc.) and the reformed paedophile are both trying to get on with their lives and move on.
Scott:
Thus far, the ex-con returns home. He reunites with family and friends – all of which still see the “old” him/no believes he can change for the better.
The ex-con gets a meet cute with the sister – a woman who is very selfless, forgiving, and believes we can change for the better (as the film progresses – her faith in people is tested.)
The ex-con, finds out about the reformed paedophile next door (a recluse living in fear) and this conjures up some bad dreams/demons. After a fight with his family, and a few drinks, he decides to get rid of these demons by killing this man. (And perhaps even going back to prison.)
He marches over to next door. Gun hidden in his jacket. And opening the door is… the sister.
After that – I’m not giving anymore away ha.
