A promising young professor is forced to return to his remote and crumbling hometown, where he finds a monomaniac preacher who claims to know the secret behind his dark past. #2. After learning of a friend?s mysterious death, a young professor must return to his remote and crumbling hometown, where he finds a monomaniac preacher spreading a dark and dangerous gospel.

      I don’t know what a monomaniac is…guess I’ll look it up.
      Could the preacher be maniacal?

      What about:

      After learning of his friend’s mysterious death, a young professor returns to his remote hometown, where he must battle a maniacal preacher spreading a dangerous gospel.

      I agree woobot, The idea that he “battles the preacher” instead of he just “finds the preacher” adds conflict to the logline.
