Well, I’m hooked. Though I am a bit biased because I am a sci-fi and fantasy nerd, so maybe someone else will have a different input. ?But to me the logline leaves me with just enough questions(why is hearing this noise a crime?) but also adequately describes the plot. The only thing I can suggest is considering giving the cop a personality trait, or describing the flaw.

I don’t understand what the crime is — to hear something? Hearing is passive, not active.

So, the person with the gift is not the protag, but rather the cop is? She has the inciting incident and then he must drive the story to resolution?

I agree with Foxtrot25, how exactly is involuntarily ‘hearing’ something justification for a incrimination?

However, much like Dkpough1, I’d be fascinated to see how this story plays (So long as the suspension of disbelief at a passive crime was not too distracting).

Maybe you mean to mention “with the rare ability to hear something?”

      Thanks everyone,

the problem is that the gouvernement says the noise doesn’t even exist – that people who ‘hears it’ are sick and will become dangerous. That’s why I’m not 100% ?convinced “with the rare ability to hear”.

So, you mean the government is entirely making this sound up to prosecute those tbey choose. But why? What is their motive?

This kinda reminds me of “They Live” premise.

Why not make the protagonist a policeman’s teenage son (or daughter)?

It’s a physiological ?fact that young people’s hearing is more acute, that they can hear higher frequencies — a capacity that diminishes with age. ? ?So there’s your bridge between fact and fiction.

The teenager hears a message that her parents and other elders can’t — that they a few might have heard when they were young but had not the courage to act on.

Work off the aphorism about how many are called–but few are chosen. ?This teen dares to answer the call.

Which, I submit, ?is a ?heck of a lot more proactive than a cop trying to merely defend his wife from the consequences of hearing the noise.

After all, what is the story about? ?Cowardly reacting defensively to an oppressive regime — or rebelling against it?

Going off of what others have said, perhaps it would be better for the protagonist to be the one who hears the noise. The cop hears the noise and then goes against the rules, and also questions them as he tries to figure out what this noise is and why it is illegal to hear it.

“the problem is that the gouvernement says the noise doesn?t even exist”

If the government denies the noise exists, then how can they make it a crime to hear this noise?

      >>>>?the problem is that the gouvernement says the noise doesn?t even exist ? that people who ?hears it? are sick and will become dangerous.

IOW: the government covers up the problem by having those who hear voices diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia; the classic symptom is that sufferers hear voices.

The technicall problem is that the disorder kicks in in late teens or early 20’s at the latest. ?Which is another reason why I ?think it would work better if the protagonist was the cop’s teenage son. ?That would apply a veneer of medical credibility to the concept ?And it would target the film to a more desirable (translation: lucrative) demographic, ?the teenage-young adult viewing market.

      Just saying.
