      Here’s a different version –
A physicist makes a deal with an old friend for the key to his cloning technology in exchange for a clone of his wife, when the cloning goes wrong and the technology is stolen he must track down his friend, destroy his research and decide which of his wives deserves to live.

Hello, I like a lot the idea at the core of the logline, but the logline is not clear (I read it many times and I’m still not sure about who do what)- You have 4 characters, the main character is the physicist. The role of the old friend is not very clear: what is this “key” that he has? Does the friend want a clone of his own wife (to have two wives) or (I think) does he want a clone of the pysicist’s wife? In this latter case this should be better said. I like this: A scientist needs the help of an old friend to accomplish clonation but the friend asks for a clone of the scientist’s wife as a reward. I assume the 2 were rivals in love, this is an interestig backstory material. I don’t like the stealing of the technology, I don’t think it fits this story. I think you should think about generate the conflict in the movie and the goal of the main character. The goal of clonation is not compelling enough (and clonation is accomplished very soon in the movie so you can’t build the story on it). I repeat, I like a lot the very perverse deal who push the scientist to clone his own wife to “give her” to his friend, this can lead to a very powerful context. Try to answer to your premise in order to find what fits the best with your theme: “what if a scientist creates a clone of his own wife to secure the help of his old friend- who has always been in love with her?”

Hi. I wasn’t sure whose wife was being cloned either and for what purpose.

I’m not at all clear on what anyone here is talking about so far, but it definitely sounds misogynist. Putting that aspect aside for a second, I’ll present the same advice I give everybody: boil it down to its basic details and story elements. Protagonist, goal, antagonist, obstacle. So this is how you might clean it up and pare it down, IF I understand the story correctly:

A scientist shares research with a reclusive competitor and clones the woman they both desire, but must track down his rival and the copy when the original begins losing her memory.

Or what if — not to be one of those people who want you to change your story but this is just a possible suggestion — the competitor wants a clone of the scientist himself, and he then has to track down his own clone when he begins losing his memory?higher stakes, and a time limit, as he remembers less and less each day. Then you can even pull a twist that he is the clone, and the one he’s looking for is the original, who decided to go with the competitor to steal more secrets?or something more imaginative than that, but still — make it something fun and intriguing, instead of being about ownership of his wife.
