In that case, as mentioned above, best to re draft the logline to reflect his dilemma and action throughout the story.
The widow begins to relearn and rediscover her deceased husband through the words and eyes of this messenger. Dahni is in a sense, the main character.
From you new description, it seems as if Dahni is the lead character, he is the one with the goal; he is determined to prove to the widow that not all “his people” are martyrs. As such the logline should be written to reflect that.
As written, the logline sets up a situation and an inciting incident.? The clarification lays out a plot, sort of.? The plot needs to be incorporated in the logline.? Specifically, as a result of being informed of her husband’s death. what does the woman do?
Based on the clarification, the best friend appears to be the more proactive character.? He’s makes the effort to seek her out, explain what happened.? He’s “determined to prove to the widow that not all ‘his people’ are martyrs.”? In contrast, the woman seems more of a reactive character.? She reacts to the initial news by striking the husband’s friend.? And then she doesn’t seem to do anything until she hears the news that he died from friendly fire.? Then she reacts again and confronts her husband’s friend.

Dahni (pronounced ?Donny?) is an Iraqi-born American soldier and her husband?s closest friend. He explains the events leading to her husband?s untimely demise. He assures her that it was an act of heroic sacrifice to save the remaining men in his unit. Anticipating the outcome of such news, he allowed the widow to strike at him in mournful anger. He apologizes and leaves.
From then on he becomes determined to prove to the widow that not all ?his people? are martyrs. Later, she receives contrary news that her husband was killed by friendly fire. She confronts Dahni and demands the truth. He then confesses that he told her he died saving his unit from an ambush in order to protect her from the bitter truth because he knew she hated ?his people? to begin with.

Just curious because your logline describes a scene, not a story. ?Sometimes a movie short is one scene so I was just wondering if this was the entire story.
