“When his son and daughter are brutalized by two police officers during a routine stop, a former Marine turned preacher sets aside his vows in order to get revenge on the two law officers responsible.”
It’s not clear in the logline if the? lead character must “Kill or be killed” while the cops are beating him… in self-defense
Or if the lead character must “Kill or be killed” after the fact… in revenge.? (Like in the movie Death Wish)
If it’s the first case then this is just a situation.
If it’ the second case then you should have someone he cares about brutalized
As a Christian he will believe in forgiveness, If someone strikes you, you are to turn the other cheek.
However that Christian belief is not as easy to follow if it’s someone you care about who’s brutalized.
That being said, if this is an evolution of the logline you had previously posted, it is getting better.
As mikepedley 85 said.
How can he have superhero powers when he couldn’t even defend himself?? What is the source of his power?
And kill who?
Reads like the origin story for an anti-superhero.
I dunno.
Is this bible schoolteacher black/asian/latino? If it’s a film about race then we kinda need that info – I can assume… but that’s never a good idea.
So he’s been beaten up by two racist cops… why does he know have to kill them? The inciting incident is past tense… it’s happened… so why is this teacher in danger of being killed now? Or is the beating still happening?
I get that these cops are racist but would they actually just kill someone for no reason (other than colour of their skin)?
Not sure this falls under the “Superhero” genre either. He has no powers (at least not based on this logline), he’s not being heroic in any way by protecting other people or sacrificing himself. He’s apparently just acting in self-defence. In my book, this doesn’t make him a superhero.
This guy’s very religious too right? Is he really just going to ignore that all for now?
I feel this is just the inciting incident. I want to know the repercussions of this event.
Hope this helps.
