I like your concept. What types of things turns for the worsts for the family?
The hook is here, and for what it’s worth I would probably watch your film. But who is he protagonist, what is their goal, and who is trying to stop them?
who is *the protagonist. Sorry.
The protagonist is a workaholic father who has lost touch with his family. His goal is to save his family from the dangerous situation he has got them into by getting them back to civilization. The “who” trying to stop him reaching his goal is nature. Bears, skunks, mountains, weather. He is forced to reconnect with nature and his family. Everyone learns a lot about each other by being away from their ipads, laptops and facebook. In the end they will all be fundamentally changed.
Their car rolls off a cliff, their tents and equipment are swept away by a tornado, there are attacked by bees, bears and cougars and end up in a deadly situation far from home with no food or water and no one to help. The usual survival stuff. The difference here is that they are overweight city folk with no concept of nature. More familiar with the tweet of twitter than the tweet of a bird they are going to have to learn fast how to survive with only each other.
“When a bankrupt workaholic Father escapes his murderous creditors by stealing away into the wilderness with his tech obsessed family, he must somehow learn to survive before they all become part of the food chain.”
This is bit long in word count, and maybe not a true reflection of your story…
I think your first statement in your last post is probably closer to a strong logline than what is posted — which seems more focussed on CONCEPT as opposed to STORY… and unfortunately reminds me a bit too much of the Robin Williams mess ‘RV’ — also “…The usual survival stuff…” — when pitching this something you should stay well clear of stating. Focus on what makes this story different…
Anyway — best of luck — it’s not far off…
You need to include that information in the logline.
catches your attention. original idea. i’d say there is an audience for this film.
How’s this?
“When a workoholic father is ordered to spend more time with his disconnected, tech obsessed family, their gadget free weekend in the wilderness turns into a fight for survival against the elements far from the comforts of home”
