      Hi Paul,

The meat of this film feels a bit misplaced — as in, we have an intriguing idea in regards to the female cat burglar, but then, a not so interesting idea in terms of the date with the longtime crush… I’m assuming the rich law student is your protag, which makes the date with the crush his object of desire/ goal — and in comparison to a potential plot line involving a female law student cat burglar it loses big time.

And are you aiming for rom-com, crime-com, or a mixture of both? (OK — crime-com I’ve pulled from my ***, but you get my drift… I’m assuming a com of some sort… 😉 )

If the film isn’t written yet I think you could have a play with making the cat burglar the protagonist — just IMO.

      Good luck with it.

      What Tony Edward said.

The hook is the idea of a law student as cat burglar, not the hook up with a crush. Who cares what happens on the guy’s date with the girl he has a crush on? Tell me more about the cat burglar.

I see what you mean. Definitely a rom-com combined with a heist film. The idea being that in order to win over the new girl they end up pulling off little missions and break-ins. I’m just not quite sure how to incorporate that into the logline.

Maybe I could add: But her unlawful methods could cost him his career/future.

      Not quite sure.

And yes, the cat burglar is probably the most interesting character and could almost be considered a co-protagonist. But ultimately it is the spoiled rich kid who has to learn and develop. By seeing how hard someone with a less privileged upbringing has to work to get all the things he takes for granted it gives him a better perspective on life.

If that’s a title suggestion, I love it.

I put it through IMDB and it came up with an old Sandra Bullock, Dennis Leary movie that I hadn’t heard of. Quite a different story judging by the synopsis.

Yep — It’s odd — you do a search on “Stolen Hearts” and you get “Two if by the Sea”…

Good point DPG, While helping the lead “Get the girl” the cat burglar will probably fall for him.
