Not sure a job is a good enough goal – if he loses his job, he’ll get another one – not nice but not too bad, especially today when so many people are losing their jobs…
Is there a stakes character you could bring in to the story?
When a young lawyer is implicated in a criminal conspiracy by his senior partner but refuses to finger him, he must placate two drug gangs to protect his job.
I’m confused.?? It’s not clear whether the law clerk has been unjustly fingered, whether he is guilty or innocent.
If he’s guilty, then he’s doubling down on his criminal behavior by tricking his accuser into a criminal act.? Why would a movie audience sympathize with that dramatic choice, root for him to pull it off?
If he’s innocent, then he’s going to be guilty of tricking an innocent man into becoming a guilty one.? Again, why would a movie audience sympathize with that dramatic choice, root for him to pull it off.
This logline answers it’s own dramatic question.
His boss implicates him in a crime
So the lead testifies against his boss.
Problem solved
Now if the lead character refused to implicate his boss, then we would have dramatic tension.
