I wonder what his action will be to discover a way to help her. In other words, I don’t have a clear understanding of what his action will be, and as a result, what the genre is.
If he, for example, needs to find a priest to hold an exorcism then it’s a faith based story, if he needs to track down a magical item it’s a fantasy, if he needs to fight a demon it’s a super natural thriller. What is it he will do in the movie?
Also, what specifically must he achieve, or put another way what does “…help her…” mean? Will he make the visions go away, or if the creature is real will he help her fight and kill the creature?
I would avoid giving away the part about how she’s the only one that can see the creature.
You should be a little more specific when it comes to the accident
Was it a car accident
Did the toaster fall into the bathtub
Was the accident the know-it-all teenagers fault
Just a little bit of specifics will help
Here would be my example of using a specific incident, your’s will be different of course.

“After his little sister falls in the swimming pool and has to be revived while he was babysitting, a unreliable teen must discover a way to defeat the creature that piggybacked it’s way into the world when she returned from the dead.”
