In what country is this set?

      And war against whom?

And what’s at stake? (Why a war?)

Now day and age – post Wikileaks, exposing something seems rather tame an action for an MC. Is there something else he could do?
In addition, if he was a journalist what’s his obstacle from publicizing the material he finds? What’s stopping him from achieving his goal?

Conceptually this is great. Everyone is talking about fake news and media manipulation and both sides believe it is the other side that is doing it. So right out of the headlines.

However, as for the logline, I would simply ask, is there a personal reason why it is important to the journalist must succeed that the audience can grab on to? If so, I would add it to the logline.

      >>>to stop their nefarious plans.

      What are their nefarious plans?

So he deciphers the messages? ?What then? ?End of film, FADE OUT to CREDIT SCROLL? ?IOW: What must he do with that information?

(And how can he know there’s a conspiracy before he’s able to decipher the messages?)
