      Thanks for the suggestion dpg,

She is a Youtuber love expert and the Youtube device is critical for the plot of the movie.

      Thanks Richiev,

The wrong guy is actually the right guy, but he is certainly not perfect, in fact he’s an emotional wreck but has a good heart. Not what she thinks she wants but the guy who will make her happy.

So maybe change to “falls for the ‘wrong’ guy. ”

Or maybe omit the “wrong guy” wording entirely “falls for a camera shy hacker geek”.

The problem with the new logline attempt is, since the lead fall for the ‘wrong guy’, the producer is actually doing her a favor by trying to break her up. It is more meaningful is she falls for ‘Mr. Right” the perfect guy and the producer self servingly tries to split up the couple.

Why not make them both pro gamers? Ergo the dramatic complication is that when they aren’t making love with ?each other in the real world, ?they are making war against each other in virtual reality. ?Both are competing for the same goal, the grand prize ?of the?championship playoff.

You still haven’t made the connection between the romance; and the producer dead set on breaking them up.
      —–
“When a popular but confrontational conservative political analyst falls for her liberal on air rival, her ruthless producer vows to tear them apart when she becomes ‘kinder and gentler’ and ratings plummet.”
      —–

Here is an attempt from the point of view of the producer.
      —–
“When his online host, who’s known for putting the brutal in brutally honest, falls in love, a ruthless producer stops at nothing to destroy her relationship and stop ratings from plummeting.”
      —–

Hope that helped, good luck with this

Isn’t ?the desire of all protagonists in romcoms to satisfy their subjective need to “find happiness”? ?So what distinguishes the character’s pursuit of happiness in this story from that of other romcoms?

A logline is a brief summary of a plot. ?And a plot ?is about a protagonist pursuing an objective goal in spite of obstacles and complications. ?

So what is her objective goal? ?Happiness is not an objective goal — it’s a subjective want or need. ?It’s the byproduct, the consequence, the bonus effect for achieving an objective goal. ?In this logline the plot would be about the particular objective goal the expert pursues to realize her subjective need for happiness.

Your logline sets up the trigger for a plot (she’s dumped) and complications for what happens after a plot would be set in motion (bad advice and ?ongoing insecurities). ?Good.?

But it ?is missing the crucial element ?that gives the story ?forward momentum, a story vector, ?a direction. ?A logline needs to indicate where the story is going, not just where it’s been (rejected by her boyfriend). ?And to do that, it needs to delineate ?her specific objective goal that when achieved will have a bonus payout of happiness.?

      Or this?
When an online rivalry between a love expert and a pro gamer sparks an unlikely romance, they must overcome a self serving producer and their own insecurities to find true love. (31 words)

      How about this?

“When an online relationship expert is dumped by her boyfriend, she must overcome her producer’s self-serving advice and her own emotional insecurities to find happiness.” (26 words)

I love romantic comedies, but this log line left me scratching my head.? The second part seamed to come from out of nowhere.? Usually in RC, you have either the two who fall in love coming from opposite sides that break them apart until they can overcome this hurdle (You’ve got Mail, Pretty Women)? or it’s a close friend, ex lover that tries, but usually is really only a small hurdle.?? Don’t over complicate the logline or story.

Two business rivals who hate each other in the office fall in love over the Internet.? – You’ve got mail.

This seems like the worst Terry Gilliam film ever made. Why are the two couples matched? Why are they looking for love online (commonly seen as a last resort)? Why is a toilet tycoon teaming up with a domineering producer and what the hell do they have to do with the couple? I get you’re going for quirky but you can’t just throw everything but the kitchen sink in an call it “quirky”.

      Who is the lead character?

From you logline it seems as if the domineering producer is the lead. However that seems like an odd choice so I was curious.

You haven’t give us any connection between the two online personalities sparking a romance, and why the producer wants to keep them apart.
Therefore there seems to be a disconnect between the first half of the logline and the second half.

What will the domineering producer lose if he can’t keep them apart? What’s at stake? It should mean his entire world?
If the producer can’t keep them apart then it should mean his world will come crashing down around him.
and if so it should be expressed in the logline.

Hope this helped, good luck with this!
