      How does he keep his unemployment from his wife — and still pay the bills?

      He gets up, pretends to go to work, uses credit cards etc. He has the financial reins in his family. Which make it harder to admit the failure of unemployment. Suddenly he is “doing good”. The one thing that gives his life some meaning and he has to hide it.

      The unemployment is what keeps him silent about what he has done. ?His financial mess is the world, not the story. ?The story is he is doing something worthwhile, that gives him meaning, yet he can’t tell the people he loves.

      Hmm will have to have another think how to get it across.

      Okay, his life suddenly has meaning.??But that’s not a dramatic problem?.???What dramatic problem arises from his becoming a local hero?? ?Well, for one thing, isn’t he going broke?? Isn’t that a ticking clock on his ‘meaning filled life’?? He can’t hide that from his wife indefinitely.

      What proactive?life changing decision does he make as a result of becoming a local hero?

      Hi, I’m guessing the protagonist is engaged in an internal conflict on a journey to become a better person. If this is the case, then it could work better as a novel rather than a film. Internal struggles in cinema tend to be the province of writer-director auteurs.
