A father, convinced his young daughter has inherited his terrifying ability to commune with evil spirits, must find the man who disabled his ability, to reawaken it.

The problem I foresee here is that the father would not be convinced enough to seek out an exorcist by the beginning of act 2. ?Usually in horror movies the father doesn't finally accept the paranormal until at least the mid point if not the Dark Night Of The Soul scene that takes us into the third act.

The problem in ghost stories is that the audience doesn't believe in ghosts from the outset, so we need more than one act to get used to the idea and start believing.

The movie?Insidious deals with a father dealing with ghosts - then finding out he has a forgotten past as a psychic late in the second act. Paranormal Activity's female lead doesn't mention she has dealings with ghosts in the past until the midpoint.

One question, if there is a man who disabled his ability... wouldn't the goal be to find the man and have him disable the ability in the lead's daughter?

What is the purpose is of reawakening his ability, instead of disabling the ability in his daughter, that isn't clear from the way your logline is worded.

What ever event it was that made the father realize his daughter has the power, needs to be described in the logline as that is the inciting incident. What ever it is he has to do as a result, needs to be described in the logline as it is the goal.
