The man is seeing a psychologist to help him with who he is… not help him “fix” the woman he wants. As Richiev said, I’m not sure a psychologist would do this. If she’s happy with who she is, why will the audience get behind a man who is trying to change her to who he wants her to be?

Regardless of this, I don’t think the psychologist’s wife has anything to do with it other than providing the psychologist with knowledge of the disorder. You don’t suggest he’s trying to help his wife so why is this important? Plus, if he’s learnt to live with his wife’s disorder, surely that’s the lesson he can teach to his patient. How to learn to live with it rather than change her.

When the UK’s top entrepreneur kills his whole family then commits suicide, a washed-up cop, grieving widow and new age guru must team up to find out what’s causing this sudden epidemic of high profile bloody events.

As Richiev has done, it's better to suggest a single protagonist. As Richiev has done, it’s better to suggest a single protagonist. It’s easier for the audience to see the story through an individual’s eyes rather than trying to get them to understand several people’s points of view and emotional involvement.

In your version, there is nothing that suggests that this is a one of many high profile events. You’ve focused on the specifics of this one case so, as Richiev has done, the goal should be something specific to this case – i.e. solving it. If you want it to be about a series of events I would adapt the inciting incident to reflect that – “After another high profile murder/suicide is added to the list” or similar.

I’m assuming that it’s the entrepreneur’s widow? I’d recommend clarifying this as, by saying he kills his whole family, it suggests that she’s dead. See Richiev’s example.

Currently, the new age guru is a bit redundant. I don’t think it’s necessary to include him/her in the logline as there is nothing that tells us why they would be getting involved. This doesn’t mean this character can’t be in the story, they just don’t need to be in the logline.

    Hope this helps.

When a depressed maintenance worker discovers that the woman he loves has the same destructive personality disorder as his psychologist?s wife, he befriends the psychologist whose specific advice may help save his failing relationship.

Why is he a maintenance worker? What bearing does that have on the story? Is his arc from depressed to happy? Overall, I find this logline a little confusing to read - it makes sense but I think it could be clearer. Surely, if he’s seeing a psychologist, he will be getting advice that would help save his relationship whether he befriends the psychologist or not?
