Does the whole film take place over the date? What's his goal after the date goes awry; does he have to track his date through a series of clubs, find her and get a goodbye kiss ... or does he try to show the girl THE DATE FROM HELL in order to make her leave, as a matter of pride. Specifying the objective goal will clarify what is likely to happen in your movie. At the moment, I only have an idea of the film until just before the second act - the date goes wrong, he consults his mentor ... then what?
Nervous young man works - could be a nervous student? Or use his occupation to describe him?
@Lewis: This is just a short film. And I think i will just change it to a nervous guy.
@Richiev: There is a bit of an element missing but I'm afraid it will give away the ending.
@dpg: I actually haven't seen Cyrano de Bergerac, all though is on the to do list.
@Tony Edward: I agree. I guess I just got lazy
Thanks for all the feedback. appreciate it
"Note: I know its frowned upon to use character's names. But I was having trouble thinking of a better way to describe someone as a "nervous young man" so I copped out"
Probably the best way to deal with this is to state their occupation/ standing in society; i.e. a shy college junior/ a timid apprentice mechanic/ a self effacing hang glider instructor...etc etc etc...
:)
