      Thanks for clarifying your story concept. The general outlines suggest the possibility of some compelling moral dilemmas for the singer — and dilemmas are always a good thing in drama.

    3. She’s in on the heist until she discovers, quite by accident, who the real artist is. She was cool with the plot when she thought it was just some nobody she’d never heard of and maybe hadn’t even been born yet. Once she finds out it’s her own daughter, who is obviously a legit talent, and when he refuses to stop ripping her off, she decides it’s time to put a halt to it once and for all. She’s not the first person he’s turned into a star through these methods, so I guess that’s the “everything”. It’s a vague statement. I’ll work on tightening it.

      What makes this time travel possible is a device called the Trinity (think iPod Touch, etc.). Video, audio, data. A portable multimedia player that dude shouldn’t have his hands on but mistakenly got it while participating in a beta test of the product a few months before it was set to be released to the public. It is a one-of-a-kind product the manufacturer uses for their own purposes (which are made known in the story), and instead of a regular Trinity like every other beta tester received, he got this one by accident. It’s got a really nifty “Go To…” feature that actually takes the person to the release date of the song chosen from the playlist.

      Really appreciate your feedback. I’m already putting it to good use.

      I think the revised logline is an improvement. But…

      Does she know the songs are stolen from the future? Or is the discovery that they are stolen from the future the event that triggers her effort to “fix everything”?

      And what does “fix everything” mean? In other words, what is her specific objective goal?

      (Plots involving time travel are always challenging because you have set up the time travel gimmick — what makes it possible to time travel. What’s your gimmick?)

    5. Here’s a second pass from the opposite POV.

      “She stole her daughter’s songs in the future and recorded them in the past as her own, but now must fix everything by facing the corrupt record producer who made it all happen.”

    6. Awesome. That’s a great call. The story does have a couple of victims the audience will root for, and will in fact root against the corrupt record producer. I’m going to get to work on this from the victims’ POV and see what I can come up with.

      A interesting premise but I am not sold on this logline.

      1) I am not seeing anything standing in the producers way. You should give us an obstacle.
      2) The corrupt producer seems unlikable, why should the audience root for him as the lead character?
      3) In fact I would propose you tell the story from the POV of one of the songwriters he stole a song from instead of having the corrupt record producer as the lead.

      However I think you do have a good idea, with some changes I believe your logline will reflect that promise.
