Agreed with Richiev.
Also, there isn’t much cause and effect between all the elements. Having been accepted into the gene program doesn’t directly mean he has to become a quarterback and win the Superbowl.
I think this is interesting, however, what is standing in the way of the lead character succeeding? Where is the conflict?
It feels like a modern Cinderella story, you could even throw in a ticking clock that the procedure is failing during the playoffs.
My thinking was eSports are growing these days and are becoming massive and gamers (pro gamers) have fans like many sports stars.
I have all the same questions as Trix.
I like the premise. Weedy gamer undergoes experimental treatment to become buff – like a Captain America type thing.
He wouldn’t just get accepted as a quarterback though. This logline makes it sound as though the treatment MAKES him a quarterback. Sure that’s not the case but could do with clarifying.
I think you can trim this down a lot and then add some more stuff to remove questions:
“After undergoing a risky procedure to “pro-athlete” his body, a nerdy eSports gamer must…”
Then tell us what he is going to do next.
Become quarterback and fall in love with a cheerleader, only for a cheerleader to love him for his personality and he still gets her when he goes back to normal? Cliche perhaps? Body swap type things usually are a little bit… everybody always ends up happy to go back to who they were in the end.
I think including “risky” is begging for an MPR. At the midpoint, we discover that the procedure….? something? I don’t know what. Maybe it’s only meant to be a temporary and he discovers that it’s potentially going to be permanent if he doesn’t do something he doesn’t want to do. Whatever message you’re trying to say “be happy with who you are” or “there’s no quick fix” etc, it’s worth using this to help with the MPR.
Hi pdlz78,
I can see plenty of opportunities for conflict in your premise. ?My initial thoughts on reading it are (I may be barking up the wrong tree as this isn’t my genre):
