      Hi,

not sure if a Hipster is the ideal character for this idea? Hipsters tend to be too cool for school. They don’t really follow the mainstream and reality tv is considered pretty mainstream. Also, I’m a little bit confused by the wording – just the last line – “after he wishes for his sins to be concealed in an online video”

What do you mean by this?

      thanks and good luck.

How can he evade a stalker while “sleeping his way…”?
What the causal connection between the stalker and “wishes for his sins to be concealed in an online video”?
The causal connection between the reality show and the “wishes for his sins to be concealed in an online video”.
The causal connection between the stalker and the reality show?

I took “sleeps his way” to mean “has sex”

Okay, now the logline is less of a non sequitur, but…

Point taken – the definition of hipster is probably too broad, so while I personally could see a hipster performing this kind of role (fame obsessed reality television contestant) it’s probably going to confuse just as many people as it informs. I’ll find a better way to describe the protagonist.

The second half means that he makes a wish (magical, I guess) that all the sins he commits are essentially removed from his conscience, his soul, and stored safely from view in an obscure online video. They’re erased from existence, and appear only in this video. Much in the same way that the painting in Oscar Wilde’s serial “The Picture of Dorian Gray” changes, growing more grotesque, the more debaucherous his life becomes.

      Hey dpg –

As wilsondownunder comments below, “sleeping his way” definitely means “fucking his way”, but I can definitely see the confusion now that you’ve pointed it out.

The stalker is essentially an antagonist, the fiance of someone that the protagonist has slept with and discarded on his rise to fame. As this is an update of Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” attempting to comment on our fame obsessed culture in the same way that the original attacked hedonism, I had to search the original for someone who could be elevated to the antagonist role. The only one I could find was an a spurned fiance, thus their inclusion in the logline. Your comments have made me re-think this, and I will find an antagonist that ties more directly to the protagonist’s goal.

The causal connection between the video and the show isn’t direct – the direct causal connection is the video to the sex that he’s having to WIN the show. The video eliminates his guilt – his conscience essentially – allowing his to lie, cheat, steal … whatever it takes to win, without having to feel bad about it as he does it.

The stalker and the reality show? I would imagine this link is obvious – the protagonist is fame obsessed, and in the process of becoming famous, he has attracted the dark side of fame to him.

Fret not, I will re-think and re-post once I’ve considered these hurdles.
