Shouldn’t be “a last big case” if she’s trying to avoid early retirement. Also “mark” suggests sucker, maybe suspect or perp would be better. Just some thoughts. Kerry
When a female detective volunteers to solve a tough case to that will guarantee her a promotion, she falls in love with the prime suspect.
[The incentive of a carrot is always better than a stick. Besides, technically, unless she’s done something legally actionable, they can’t drum her out of the force. They can only dead her career as a negative inducement to get her to pull the pin herself.]
